Our School Tour

We went on our school tour to Newgrange farm!

It was a beautiful sunny day and the children had so much fun.

There were lots of farm animals to see and feed. We went on an adventurous tractor ride.

There were lots of play areas to explore and there was even a maze where we played hide and seek!

Hatching in progress

'Chick it out'

On Monday we had a delivery of  7 eggs to room 4. The eggs were in an incubator and the farmer told us there were baby chicks inside each egg.

We spent the rest of the day waiting for the chicks to hatch ...

Eventually we spotted a crack in an egg and realised the hatching process had begun!

The next morning we found 4 chicks in the incubator. They had hatched over night.

We saw the empty shells and talked about how the chicks must have curled up tight inside.

We noticed that two of the other eggs had cracks in them so we kept a close eye on them.

This is what happened next ..

The Garden Centre

Our topic this month is plants. We are learning all about the parts of a plant, how to plant seeds and bulbs and what plants need to survive.

In preparation for our topic we went on a trip to the garden centre. Here we got to see all kinds of different flowers and plants.

And of course, we HAD to have a look at the fish tanks before we left!

Our trip definitely got us ready to open up our own garden centre in our classroom.

We also planted some grass seeds in pots and are watching and waiting eagerly to see if they have grown. We have estimated it will take 10 days for the seeds to start to grow!

Our small world is also full of plants, flowers and trees. The children have loved using the playdough for their creations!
